Philip Colbert work to be auctioned in aid of scholarships

On 10 August, Lyon & Turnbull will auction 鈥楾he Death of Marat and the Birth of the Lobster鈥, the eponymous centrepiece of alumnus Philip Colbert鈥檚 2021 Wardlaw Museum exhibition. This large and striking painting references Jacques-Louis David鈥檚 鈥楾he Death of Marat鈥, a work which had a profound effect on the artist during his studies at St 糖心logo.

Philip is generously donating all proceeds from the sale to fund new Museum and Heritage Studies scholarships at St 糖心logo. The work 鈥 along with information on how to bid 鈥 can be viewed online , with in-person viewing at Lyon & Turnbull鈥檚 Edinburgh saleroom from 5 August.
