Biography

I received my BA from the University of York, my MA in Writing for Performance from Goldsmiths College and my PhD from the University of Nottingham. Before joining St 糖心logo in 2015, I taught at the Universities of Nottingham and Lincoln, De Montfort University and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.听

Research areas

I specialise in contemporary literature and drama, with particular interests in end of the world literature and culture, eco-criticism and the climate crisis, children's fiction, storytelling, and philosophies of history.听

My first monograph theorised the role of images and performance in crisis and emergency narratives relating to terrorism, migration and suicide. My second explored the ways that contemporary apocalyptic film, theatre, video games and literature test out the implications of civilisational collapse.听

I am currently working on two edited collections about British end of the world literature and culture, and a monograph about apocalyptic children's fiction in the age of extinction.
